The NTDK50 anniversary travelling exhibition has arrived at Doroszló-Szentkút
NTDK

A travelling architectural exhibition showcasing the work of the Student Society for Folk Architecture (NTDK) over more than five decades arrived in Doroszló-Szentkút on 4 October. Organised as part of the NTDK50 anniversary programme, the exhibition highlights the society’s professional heritage and the importance of professional and community ties in Vojvodina and Western Bačka.

As part of the anniversary programme, a professional conference was held on 2 October at the Pesti Vigadó in Budapest, where the travelling exhibition organised to mark the anniversary was unveiled. Ilona Pelt and Tímea Móger accepted its travelling banner on behalf of the contributors from Western Bačka.

At the exhibition’s opening in Doroszló, Rev. Ákos Horvát, director of the shrine, welcomed the audience as host. The programme included a specialist presentation by Balázs Váradi, a PhD student and head of the NTDK, as well as a literary recital.

Balázs Váradi explained that the NTDK’s work had extended to Vojvodina, including the Western Bačka region, and that he had taken part in surveys conducted there. He emphasised that they consider it important to maintain the relationships they have established and to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary together with professional and community partners across the border, above all with friends from Vojvodina and Transylvania.

The exhibition provides a comprehensive overview of the NTDK’s fifty years of activity since its foundation. Its panels showcase the annual assessment camps, building camps, and various initiatives and special professional events connected with the student society. Alongside material explaining the NTDK’s work, the exhibition also includes panels in English to make the content accessible to Serbian colleagues.

The travelling exhibition is next scheduled to visit Gyergyócsomafalva in Transylvania in November, where the local community and representatives of the architectural profession will be able to view it and include it in their own professional programmes.

At the opening, Ákos Horvát remarked that the special exhibition provides a fitting culmination to this year’s pilgrimage season. With the season drawing to a close, he said, the exhibition’s opening is a significant event that can serve as a fitting conclusion to 2026 in the life of the shrine.
