The Handicraft of Károly Kós – Lecture by Prof. Dr. Anthony Gall in Oradea
online

On April 5, at 2 p.m., the symposium entitled "Architecture–Art–Design 1900: A New Unity" was held at the Casa Darvas-La Roche in Oradea, where Prof. Dr. Gall Anthony, Dean of our Faculty, also gave a lecture entitled "The Handicraft of Károly Kós."

There was a group of young architecture students, including Károly Kós and Valér Mende, who graduated from the Budapest University of Technology in 1907 and 1908. They were particularly influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement and folk architectural traditions. Károly Kós, who was born in Transylvania, returned to his homeland and lived there until his death in 1977. He was a master of interior design details, designing stained glass, furniture, and other decorative solutions for numerous small houses. The lecture highlights some of these works, including the latest reconstructions based on the original drawings.
