We are proud to share that Professor Dr. Marcel Ferencz DLA of the Ybl Miklós Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, received an exceptional series of international and national recognitions last year, marking a truly outstanding period in his career.
First, he was honored with the Kossuth Prize, one of Hungary’s most prestigious cultural awards, in recognition of his outstanding professional achievements.
In addition, his most significant work, the Open Arena | National Athletics Centre, Budapest, achieved remarkable international success. The project was selected as the 13th Annual Architizer A+Awards Popular Choice Winner in two categories: Sustainable Sports and Recreation Building and Stadium and Arena. With entries from over 80 countries, this unparalleled recognition reflects the global architectural community’s appreciation, as the award is decided by hundreds of thousands of public votes worldwide.
Last but not least, the National Athletics Centre received further international acclaim by winning the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Association of Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) Architecture Award. The prize was presented at the gala ceremony of the 29th IAKS Congress in Cologne, celebrating the world’s leading sports architecture projects.
