At the end of January, Dr Mahmoud Abdulwahab Alawi PhD, the Rector of the Karume Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in Zanzibar, visited our Faculty to see our curriculum. In addition to the civil and architectural engineering specialisation, he showed particular interest in the Heritage Conservation Design Engineering course, which will be launched this autumn.
During his visit, a mutual cooperation agreement was reached between KIST and Obuda University. The contacts between the two universities, the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and the University of Obuda were established during our visit last May, when a delegation of four members represented our Faculty. In addition to Judit Kissné Fekete, the Foreign Affairs Coordinator of the Ybl Miklós Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the delegation was hosted by several Faculty members of the Institute of Architecture. Viktor Rozmann PhD, from the Department of the Built Environment, Marcell Szuhanyik from the Department of Architecture and Visual Studies and Anett Mizsei from the Department of Design were present, covering the main fields of architectural studies. Our colleagues were thus able to participate in valuable exchanges, presentations and roundtable discussions.
The Karume Institute of Science and Technology was previously a partner of Obuda University in the Erasmus+ KA171 project, and the visit was an opportunity to extend the cooperation.
