The mission of the ÉDT-DI is to research and actively shape the culture of builtenvironment and design through complex research into changing social and economic needs and to meet these needs on a productive basis, supported by the artistic and technical expertise of the closely integrated disciplines of architecture and architecture engineering.

The ÉDT-DI has a vision of solving research and development challenges based on the need for a quality design and environmental culture through the creative application of interdisciplinary knowledge.
Rejecting a barely self-serving approach that is scientifically evaluable but lacks practical effectiveness, the training is based primarily on the undergraduate and master’s programmes of the OU and on those of universities at home and abroad of a similar level and profile, covering several disciplines and artistic fields, and offering a new type of doctoral training, horizontally organised, geared to results.
